Manufacture + Properties

Vulkocell‚ (registered trademark of P+S Polyurethan-Elastomere) complements compact Vulkollan‚ for application where a higher deformability and a lower compressive strength than that obtained with solid elastomers is required. Vulkocell‚ is manufactured with a density of 300 - 650 kg/m3. This enables Vulkocell‚ - in comparison with compact elastomers - to be considerably more deformed with only minimal transverse expansion without suffering any damage.

Vulkocell‚ is particulary suitable to solving complicated oscillation problems. This is a result of relatively low dampening and a higher dynamic load bearing capacity. Further properties include:

• increased work capacity with increased density
  
• steady compression behaviour within a temperatur range of -20° to +80°C
  
• minimal remaining deformation when under continous stress conditions (2 Hz, 40% compression)
  
• oil and grease resistance.

Applications

Due to its outstanding properties Vulkocell‚ is used in:

• spring and dampening components in the car industry
  
• gaskets for casing and ball-bearing joints
  
• rings for friction absorbers
  
• pressure bars (paper and printing industry).
